  Herculiani Iuniores

Late Roman Historical Reenactment Association

(3rd and 4th centuries AD)

The HERCULIANI IUNIORES association brings together authors, graduates in ancient history, and history and reenactment enthusiasts eager to revive the daily life and environment of Roman legionaries in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD.

Our approach combines historical rigor, experimentation, and lively, immersive transmission to allow the public to discover this fascinating period in a different way: through gestures, objects, traditions, and stories about the military and civilian life of Roman soldiers.

Our approach

We work from archaeological, iconographic, and textual sources to reconstruct and faithfully represent the human and material realities of the time.

Each reconstruction is an opportunity to test historical hypotheses, experiment, bring to life, and transmit a taste for the past through immersive and concrete experiences.

Our themes

From memory to emotion: experience history differently

I

Military life: uniforms, weaponry, tactics & maneuvers etc...

II

Camp life: organisation, craftsmanship & maintenance of equipment etc...

III

Civil life of the legionnaire: family, beliefs and public & personal rites etc...
